In the year of the centenary of the end of the First World War, Hope and Bentlawnt Local History Group are starting a new project aiming to find out about the involvement of the area and the people who lived here in the past conflicts, including WWI and WWII. We can’t do this without you. We would be particularly interested in information regarding any of those named on the memorial plaque at the Bentlawnt crossroads (Please click here).
We are looking to collate as much information as possible about involvement in the war. Do you have any information, stories, photos, letters, memorabilia, items etc.? If you do not have them digitally, we are able to take documents / photos to Bishops Castle Heritage Resource Centre and digitise them. Some of our members have been trained in historic document digitisation and will look after your treasures with great care.
We would like to add copies to our collection for future research and use.
We would like this project to lead up to a display at an event at Hope Village Hall on 11th November 2018 following a remembrance service. We want as many items as possible digitised before then for our display but also any items that you are willing to bring along on the day.
